GLS Campus Where interesting people meet

About GLS

Where interesting people meet

The GLS Campus Berlin is a meeting place for interesting personalities from all over the world – both as a location for special events and as the headquarters of the GLS German Language School with course participants from more than 60 countries.

GLS was founded in 1983 by Berlin entrepreneur Barbara Jaeschke, who still runs the company today, together with her daughters Dr Reemda Jaeschke (right) and Dr Verena Jaeschke.

GLS wurde 1983 gegründet von der Unternehmerin Barbara Jaeschke

History

The GLS Campus revitalizes a historic ensemble of buildings in Berlin, originally built in 1898 as a public bathhouse and community school.

After the school closed and the public bathhouse remained vacant for many years, GLS acquired and renovated the buildings in 2005. In 2015, the former bathhouse was reopened as the Hotel Oderberger.

Architecture

The photos were taken in 1961 and 1902 respectively.

You can see: the facade of the GLS Campus facing Kastanienallee – classic GDR modernism (many of the seminar and conference rooms are located in this building) and the Stadtbad Oderberger – architectural neo-renaissance (today Hotel Oderberger).
